Liz and Mike met in the Amazon Symphony Orchestra while they were both living in Seattle. Liz plays the clarinet, and Mike plays the trumpet. They first spoke at an orchestra social event, where Liz challenged Mike to a typing contest. The following year, they spoke again at a post-rehearsal orchestra social gathering at Whisky Bar. They stayed late each week talking, and later that month Liz asked Mike to get sushi. Their first date continued to a board game cafe and ended with watching reality TV at Liz's request.

Liz and Mike spent the next year playing in music groups together and complaining about Seattle pizza. Their favorite moments were on their trip back to the East Coast. They are pictured here at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, blocks away from where they will be married six years later.

During the pandemic, Liz moved into Mike's studio apartment in Downtown Seattle. Liz found a new role at Amazon in the NYC office, and Mike worked with his manager to relocate there. With a pit stop in Pennsylvania to see Liz's parents, they moved into their current building in Brooklyn. They are pictured here in Prospect Park, a 15-minute walk from their apartment.

While back East, Liz and Mike were able to frequent the Jersey Shore. You might even catch them throwing a frisbee together on the beach.

Liz and Mike enjoyed many visits to Bradenton, Florida, where Mike's parents moved to from New York. They regularly frequent the nearby mini golf courses and escape rooms with Mike's parents.

Soon they visited Rockland County, where Mike grew up, traveled to Westchester to see Liz's relatives, and explored nearby Beacon, NY (pictured here). Liz happily takes the train whenever she can, and she is thankful to have Mike by her side. Mike has all of the train stops and automated messages memorized: "Please watch the gap between the train and the platform!"

Liz and Mike made many trips to Philadelphia to see their friends and Liz's parents. They were now playing music again together, traveling, and trying to find the most optimal way to organize their 15 instruments into their small apartment. Mike was also entering his second year in his new role at Google.

Mike made his first trip to the Midwest, where Liz had attended Macalester College. They are pictured here in Minneapolis for a friend's wedding. They also went to St. Paul, where Mike experienced the Minnesota State Fair. Their favorites were the fried twinkie and Sweet Martha's cookies. During this trip, they traveled to Chicago, Milwaukee, and Madison.

Mike took Liz to see the Nutcracker at the Academy of Music, which they had played the music to together in previous years. Liz's friend Caroline took the two to an "art market" cover story and led them into Fairmount Park.

Mike surprised Liz after the proposal with a party of her closest Philadelphia friends. Liz was elated to celebrate with their friends and impressed with Mike's planning and ability to keep the party secret.

Since then, Mike started a part-time Master of Science in Computer Science at Columbia University, and Liz continued to find more music groups for them to join. We think every day how lucky we are to have found each other. We debate over our favorite composers, best pizza spots, and how to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. We are excited to share our story and celebration of our love with you.
